Yeah, you’re right. The whole of diet advice that anybody really needs can be summed up in seven words, as pointed out by Michael Pollen: “Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.”
I’ve adhered to a plant-based diet for years and try to tell most folks I talk to about nutrition that the majority of chronic diseases are solvable with this dietary approach. It’s so frustrating to see such an unhealthy population when the solution is so simple. The science is overwhelming and pretty much incontestable at this point, but yet we see crazy diets like the bastardized “keto diet” gaining in popularity. These people eat huge amounts of animal products and have somehow convinced themselves it’s healthy. It’s mind boggling.
Keep spreading the word, that’s all we can do — though it’s an uphill battle against the processed-food commercial interests.
